The value of collaboration
between digital applications.
In order to deploy the total effectiveness and efficiency potential of IT technologies, companies must solve the complex challenge of integrating the different applications that make up the IT system – not only the existing applications of their organisational structure but more and more often also the ‘constellation’ of external systems, namely the ones used by partners sharing the business value chain.
Action’s IT Consultants support our clients to maximise the VALUE of enterprise IT application architectures through a systematic and thorough approach structured in three phases.
All existing and potential applications must be assessed to differentiate between those with a high ‘departmental’ value – which should not be lost and should be replaced with a natively integrated multifunctional system – and those which do not possess such characteristics. This will highlight which business sub-systems should exist in a significantly ‘independent’ way and which ones should be included in a single integrated transactional system (typically a basic ERP system) due to organisational efficiency and effectiveness. Furthermore, each necessary and existing departmental system should be assessed to identify its functional coverage and the life cycle phase of the HW/SW supporting it in order to allocate investments properly.
All the sub-systems which are new components of the architecture or have been confirmed but need extraordinary maintenance must be implemented. The new interfaces of the architecture must be implemented, and any existing ones should be integrated by means of intermediate data interchange tools, based on decisions taken during the design phase.
